The Avalanche Warning Service currently has only a small amount of information, so that the avalanche danger should be investigated especially thoroughly in the relevant locality.
Especially adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas the previously small wind slabs will increase in size substantially in the afternoon. In addition some small gliding avalanches and moist snow slides are possible.
The wind slabs are mostly small but in some cases prone to triggering. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines in all aspects above approximately 2300 m. As a consequence of the moderate northwesterly wind the prevalence and size of these avalanche prone locations will increase in the afternoon.
In addition a certain danger of gliding avalanches and moist snow slides exists.
Snowpack
>
Between approximately 800 and 1800 m a little snow is lying. At higher altitudes there are 20 to 30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities. The new snow is lying on soft layers on wind-protected shady slopes above approximately 2400 m. Over a wide area from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying.
Tendency
As a consequence of new snow and wind the prevalence and size of the avalanche prone locations will increase on Wednesday.
