Wind slabs are to be evaluated with care and prudence.
As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind from northwesterly directions, dangerous wind slabs will form in the course of the day adjacent to ridgelines on east, southeast and south facing slopes. These can in some places be released by small loads and reach medium size. The new snow can be released easily, or, in isolated cases, naturally in all aspects above approximately 2000 m.
Snowpack
>
Over a wide area 10 to 15 cm of snow will fall from late morning above approximately 2000 m. The northwesterly wind will transport the new snow significantly. Shady slopes and adjacent to ridgelines: The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs will be deposited on soft layers. Southeast, south and west facing slopes: This snow and the wind slabs are lying on top of a favourable old snowpack. At low altitude from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.
Tendency
As a consequence of the ceasing of precipitation there will be a gradual decrease in the danger of dry avalanches from the early morning.
