Wet snow

Wind slabs require caution. As the day progresses only isolated gliding avalanches and moist snow slides are possible.
The fresh and older wind slabs of the last few days must be evaluated with care and prudence in all aspects above approximately 2100 m. The more recent wind slabs are mostly small but can be released easily. They have formed in particular adjacent to ridgelines on south and west facing slopes. The somewhat older wind slabs can still be released in particular on very steep shady slopes. They are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls. In isolated cases these are medium-sized but can mostly be released by large loads.
On very steep shady slopes and in places that are protected from the wind dry snow slides are possible, but they will be mostly small.
In particular on very steep sunny slopes and on cut and grassy slopes only isolated small to medium-sized gliding avalanches and moist snow slides are possible as a consequence of solar radiation.

The conditions are sometimes unfavourable for backcountry touring and other off-piste activities in steep terrain. The current avalanche situation calls for meticulous route selection.
Snowpack
>
The easterly wind has transported the loosely bonded old snow. In some cases the various wind slabs have bonded poorly with each other and the old snowpack. Artificially triggered avalanches and field observations indicate this situation. In particular wind-protected shady slopes and gullies, bowls and the base of rock walls: Weak layers in the upper part of the snowpack necessitate caution. Also very steep sunny slopes as well as grassy slopes: The danger of gliding avalanches and moist snow slides will increase a little during the day. Especially at intermediate and high altitudes a very large amount ofsnow is lying for the time of year. In addition, snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.
Tendency
Saturday: The wind slabs are bonding only slowly with the old snowpack in particular on shady slopes. Decrease in danger of gliding avalanches and moist snow slides as the temperature drops.
