Gliding avalanches and moist snow slides are still possible.
Shady slopes and wind-loaded slopes: The old snowpack will be in most cases stable.

On extremely steep grassy slopes and on sunny slopes more gliding avalanches and moist snow slides are possible as the day progresses, even medium-sized ones. Areas with glide cracks are to be avoided. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised as well in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls. In many places there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.

The somewhat older wind slabs have bonded quite well with the old snowpack also on shady slopes.

Shady slopes and intermediate and high altitudes: The snowpack consists of faceted crystals and its surface has a crust. Sunny slopes: The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will soften during the day.

Above the tree line there are 30 to 50 cm of snow, and even more in some localities. At high altitudes and in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. At low altitude hardly any snow is lying.
Tendency
Christmas Day: Hardly any decrease in danger of gliding avalanches and moist snow slides until the temperature drops.
