Gliding snow

The fresh and older wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence on very steep shady slopes and generally at high altitude. Gliding avalanches and moist snow slides as the day progresses.
Some fresh snow and in particular the sometimes deep wind slabs can be released in some cases on very steep shady slopes and generally at high altitude. The more recent wind slabs are small but prone to triggering. The old wind slabs can still be released in some cases. In isolated cases these are medium-sized.
In particular very steep sunny slopes and grassy slopes: As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation small and medium-sized gliding avalanches and moist snow slides are to be expected. In isolated cases the gliding avalanches are large.
Backcountry touring and other off-piste activities call for meticulous route selection.

Snowpack
>
Some snow fell today in some localities. The sometimes moderate wind has transported the fresh and old snow.
Shady slopes: Faceted weak layers exist in the top section of the snowpack. In its middle, the snowpack is well consolidated. Towards its base, the snowpack is weak.
Sunny slopes: The solar radiation will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack.
At intermediate altitudes there are 150 to 250 cm of snow, and even more in some localities.

Tendency
On Monday it will be warm. The danger of dry avalanches will decrease. The danger of moist avalanches will increase significantly during the day.
