Wet snow

Restraint is advisable on this first sunny day.
Weakly bonded old snow and wet snow are to be assessed with care and prudence.
The fresh snow and in particular the many sometimes large wind slabs can be released easily, or, in isolated cases naturally in all aspects and generally at high altitude. They are lying on weak layers. Up to high altitudes rain will fall in the next few hours. For this reason the situation is significantly more dangerous.

Christmas Day: As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation more frequent moist snow slides and avalanches are to be expected as the day progresses, even medium-sized ones. In addition small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized gliding avalanches are to be expected.

Backcountry touring and other off-piste activities call for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and restraint.
Snowpack
>
30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell on Monday. The sometimes storm force wind has transported the new snow significantly. Tuesday: Up to high altitudes rain has fallen thus far. Fresh and somewhat older wind slabs remain for the foreseeable future prone to triggering in all aspects. Released avalanches and field observations confirm poor snowpack stability in particular on wind-loaded slopes. Evening and night: Some rain will fall. The surface of the snowpack will freeze very little and will soften quickly. Christmas Day: As a consequence of warming during the day and the solar radiation, the likelihood of moist avalanches being released will increase gradually in particular on steep sunny slopes in all altitude zones.

At intermediate altitudes there are 50 to 100 cm of snow. Above the tree line snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.
Tendency
Boxing Day: The danger of moist avalanches will not decrease for the time being. The danger of dry avalanches will decrease gradually.
